MIDNITE LUNCH – self titled EP (1983)

For the first post of April, I present an interesting female fronted sextet that has a variety of sounds on display throughout this self produced four song affair. It starts with the driving new wave synth action of “After All”, which sounds like a very early “Information LP” era Berlin song and is the standout here. The ensuing songs dabble and veer in punk and garage rock territories, but keep it stripped down to the basics and then it ends with something more like how it started ….Obscure, Rare, Out of Print and it does come in a variety of record sleeve colors….Enjoy below::::

Side A
after all
love on the run

Side B
working girl

  4. The vocals on "Love on the run" and "Working girl" sounds like Runaways/early solo Joan Jett (before JJ developed the husky voice). The way she enunciates... she has that Joan Jett accent! Thanks for another great post.

  5. Texas band. Your copy looks clean. My cover's all chewed up. Saw another on ebay once and the sleeve was in similar condition so I started to think that was intentional. If anyone from this band reads this, please get in touch cdsilva22 AT gmail DOT com because I haven't had any luck finding anybody.

  7. Wow, where the heck did you find this????

So... I'm the guy on the right hand side of the cover shot. In fact, I am the guy who trotted down to the print shop and made the covers to go on our cool little promo EP when they were still warm off the presses. I also had the privilege of playing Those screaming lead tracks as well as the cool bell like guitar harmonics throughout "After All".

This is a very rare album indeed. Heck, I don't think there are more than a handful that actually made it into circulation. Where did you find it?

About the band: We were located in Denton, Texas and played in and around the area in the early-mid 80's. Thanks for the nice comments. Glad y'all enjoyed the music. If anyone is interested in a vinyl copy of their very own, I think I have a box of them still hiding in my shed somewhere.

  8. Hi Travis
    thanks for reaching out.
I actually got this one off ebay a long time ago, but the sleeve is damaged and has a big chunk taken out of it. I'd really like to have a better copy if you can spare one. Pleae let me know. thanks.

  9. Ok, are y'all in luck!

Just got around to digging through the box with the original artwork in it. Yep, I found two unused and uncirculated yellow sleeves that have not even been cut and glued (so they can be called originals and not re-issues). I also found one and only one uncirculated copy of the original cover (only three of those in existence that I know of). Anybody interested?

  10. Hi, yes, I'm interested in getting a new cover since mine has a big tear out of it. Also, if you have any clean vinyl copies, that would work as well, my current copy has surface noise...contact me at gilsons4@earthlink.net to discuss...thanks!
