Operator was an Atlanta, GA based indie band that mixed intelligent new wave and power pop elements in their melodic injected pop rock. This lone extended player was distributed via independent record label Landslide Records. Landslide was a label that focused on more Jazz oriented artists in their day, but you won’t find that on this one…Another one of the many underground Atlanta indie bands recalled…If anyone has more information on this band, please contact…thanks..

"Call me tomorrow" deserved to be the lead track if you ask me - I'd actually walked out of the room, when I heard this it made me return to the computer to find out what it was. --- Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteIt may be a little surprising, but this Ep was not the sole release of Operator.
ReplyDeleteHere's what I have about them:
Founding member Parker Mullis (b. 1950) is a veteran of GA scene, with a rich background, which goes back to Rhonda and the Chessmen (garage band from the 60s). In his myspace page {http://www.myspace.com/parkermullis} you can listen to some Operator's songs (credited to him). He's currently playin in "Second Chance Band" {http://secondchanceband.org/biography.html}
Operator Discography
Big Man & Flies On The Wall on Standardeviation (compilation LP, Panic records, 1980)
Operator (7'EP, Landslide, 1981) {Julian Brogi - drums, percussion; Donald Jones - guitar; Parker Mullis - guitar, harmonica, vocals; Ross Westcott - bass, organ, vocals}
