This full length album from a Sydney, Australia band is very much unknown as I could not find a shred of information about it. It is a self produced album which provides ample doses of quirky new wave rhythms. It slides in and out of basic experimentation with tangents into gloomy territories and scattered synth sounds. Check out the song “Parrot-Fashion” for quite an entertaining high intense listen. Overall, this obscurity is a very consistent listen that has variety from song to song. It’s an out of press private pressing via Indexed Records, Australia. The land from down under continues to impress...

I'm familiar with this band and album, if you'd like to know more.
ReplyDeleteAll Ordinaries were a Sydney-based band, formed from the remnants of two Brisbane bands, Company Bred and Rum Jungle (the latter of which was my band). They gigged frequently for a couple of years on Sydney's live circuit. However, despite the strength of the album and its single, Open Season, they never achieved the acclaim I feel they deserved.
With Sydney's live music scene then crumbling under the weight of poker machines, hip hop and cheap DJs, the band called it quits in (I think) the early 90s.
Incidentally, I love your site. It's great to see almost-forgotten albums like Safety as a Science getting a second life on the net.
